How to Clean Your Copper Vessel
Copper Utensils
- 🍋 Lemon & Salt: Rub a lemon half dipped in salt on the surface. Leave for 2–3 minutes. Rinse and dry immediately.
- 🌿 Tamarind Paste: Apply tamarind paste, rub gently, rinse, and dry. Excellent for heavy tarnish.
- 🥶 Vinegar & Salt: Mix equal parts, apply with a soft cloth, leave for 5 minutes, rinse well, and dry.
- 🍼 Daily Rinse: Rinse with warm water after each use. Dry immediately — never air-dry or leave water inside.
With Lacquer/Meena Coating
Lacquer or Meena (enamel resin) coating gives your copper vessel its beautiful colour and design. With the right care, this coating stays vibrant for years — but it needs gentler handling than plain copper.
- 🧹 Wipe Gently: Use a soft, damp microfibre cloth. Wipe the outer surface lightly in circular motions. Never scrub.
- 🫧 Mild Soap if Needed: Add a drop of mild dish soap to lukewarm water. Dip a soft sponge and gently clean the outside. Avoid applying pressure on coated areas.
- 💧 Rinse Carefully: Rinse with slow-running lukewarm water. Do not submerge or soak.
- 🧺 Pat Dry Immediately: Use a soft, dry cloth. Pat gently — do not rub or wring. Never air-dry, as moisture can weaken the bond between the coating and copper.
- ☀️ Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged UV exposure can fade Meena colours and crack resin coatings. Store in shade or a cupboard.
- 🌞 Keep Away from Heat: Do not place near stoves or in hot environments. Extreme heat can soften and peel the lacquer.
- 👁️ Handle with Care: Coating can chip on impact. Place on soft surfaces and avoid dropping. Never stack without padding between vessels.
- 📈 Dry Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Humidity trapped inside can cause the coating to lift from the edges over time.
- 🧹 Clean Gently & Often: Light, regular wiping prevents buildup. Heavy scrubbing to remove old grime can cause more damage than the grime itself.
- 🌸 Polish Uncoated Areas Only: If the vessel has uncoated copper parts, polish only those areas with lemon & salt. Keep polishing agents away from the coated design.

- ❌ Never use a dishwasher: Heat and detergent can strip the coating completely.
- ❌ Never use lemon, tamarind, or vinegar on coated surfaces: Acids can damage or dissolve the lacquer.
- ❌ Never scrub with steel wool, abrasive sponges, or rough cloths.
- ❌ Never soak coated vessels: Prolonged exposure to water can lift the coating from the edges.
- ❌ Never use bleach, chemical cleaners, or polishing powders on coated areas.
- ❌ Never microwave or heat the vessel: Overheating can damage the coating and may release fumes.
